There’s nothing like the beauty of granite countertops to add elegance and class to any kitchen or bathroom. Granite is stain-resistant, heat-resistant, and scratch resistant, so is very practical for all applications: kitchen counters (or any counters in the house), floors, walls, fireplaces. Granite’s usual finish is highly polished, but you can now choose a brushed finish, also called leather for your granite countertop if you prefer. Dauter Stone can create a customized granite countertop finish for you, in the colour of your choice.

Natural Quartzite countertops are as hard and durable as granite countertops, and therefore are equally versatile. Quartzite countertops are newer in the Calgary marketplace, and have their own unique colours and patterning. We have an excellent range of natural quartzite available for viewing and selection.

Quartz Countertops
A quartz countertop is currently popular stone option. Quartz is man-made, comprising of over 90% natural ground quartz to give hardness and durability, and the rest a resin binder. This type of stone is available in countless colours and patterns for your quartz countertop. Every brand name has their own colour line which allows for a vast array of choices for your quartz countertop. If a plain untextured look is desired this is easier to achieve in quartz than natural stones.

Soapstone Countertops
Soapstone can be hard to find, but at Dauter Stone, we keep it in stock. We are the only supplier in Western Canada with over 2 decades of experience working with this special product. Quality soapstone countertops can add beauty, function, and value to any kitchen or bath.
Soapstone is a unique choice for those who want the beauty and practicality of natural stone with a softer, slightly textured surface and a more rustic look than the polished options. Soapstone is extremely dense, non-porous, and will not stain (once oiled). Like granite, it is stain-resistant and heat-resistant. Colour choice is in a range of greys, with creamy white veining. Initial saturation with mineral oil is required to prep the surface, and brings out the colour and beauty of the stone. As part of the soapstone products we offer, we also custom manufacture square, farmhouse style soapstone sinks.
